I have a quick question. Over the past week, have you bought from a retail store? Likely around 75% of you have; that’s because retail shopping has grown more and more popular as it becomes readily accessible to millions of Americans. Today, we’re going to look at the future of retail shopping as we head into 2020. Let’s get right in!

Better In-Store Deals

With the major shift towards online retail shopping, many stores have downsized or been eliminated altogether. Most companies are looking to take whatever steps necessary to attract more customers in the store.

The best way to attract people into stores is by offering sales. Expect to see some excellent deals at outlet stores.

Further Online Expansion

Although we just stated that companies are going to try to attract customers in-store, many companies will try to further expand their online presence.

Online stores can save businesses a significant amount of time and money. That’s because online stores require fewer employees to operate. This means companies can offer more competitive pricing and better specials on their supply. Couple that with the growing number of people shopping via the internet and online shopping will continue to grow.

Appealing To Younger Customers

Millennials and Generation Z make up around half of our U.S population. These two age groups span from the teenage years all the way through people in their early 30’s. Among these two age groups, online shopping is extremely popular. In fact, recent surveys have shown that around 75% of both millennial and Generation Z members shop online. Because of this, companies will try to appeal to younger shoppers.

Convenience

Research indicates one of the most important considerations shoppers take into mind is convenience. Whether shopping online or in-store, shoppers want a quick, painless shopping experience.

What does this mean? This means that online shopping is going to grow more popular. Additionally, brick and mortar stores will try to compete with online stores by providing quick, helpful service.

Online Marketing

Now more than ever, online marketing is crucial for a business to succeed. First and foremost is social media. Around 70% of all Americans view social media in some capacity. Expect to see businesses posting on social media more and more.

Additionally, many businesses are going to look to develop their online presence via their website. Expect to see frequent blog posts and articles coming from businesses this year.

Finally, businesses are going to be posting more online videos in 2020. Videos allow customers to see the personal side of a business, enticing them to visit and buy products.

Knowledgeable Customer Service

How many times have you went to a store and had a question about a product? You look for a knowledgeable employee who will be able to provide you with some insightful information that answers your problem. Unfortunately, the employee doesn’t have any clue what you’re talking about.

To support buyers, companies like Janie and Jack Outlet are going to invest heavily in employee training, making shopping more convenient for customers.

Hopefully, this article has provided some insight into the latest retail shopping trends as we head into 2020. If you’re a buyer, use these trends to your advantage as we head into the new year.
